RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos
Here's another one..I use my husband's utility wagon to load and unload the rig...pull the wagon up on the porch (we have a ramp access).. load the boxes of "stuff"..pull out to the rig..unload and go again. I've cut my loading and unloading trips by 2/3. I try to have as many duplicates as possible in the rig but there's still the perishables, clothes, misc. junk to go into and out of it each trip.
RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos
Great thread alto it seems to be slowing down...keep those hints coming! I use these

in my skylight in the shower to hang wet wash cloths, etc on.
My canned goods are on the floor of the cabinet under the kitchen sink and very hard to get to. I use 2 plastic dish washing tubs to store them in..just pull out a tub, get out the cans I want and push back in.
RE: frozen bacon
I "fry" mine in the oven...it helps that I have a self-cleaning oven! I lay the strips out on a cooking sheet..can usually do 1lb at a time on two sheets. When cool, I lay them out again on a cookie sheet covered with foil or waxed paper and put in the freezer until frozen. Then I store the individual frozen strips in a plastic container..this way I just open the container, take out the # of stips I need, pop in the microwave to heat and return rest to the freeezer. I find the plastic container keeps the frozen strips from getting broken while in the freezer. Works for me!
RE: Marinated Veggie Salad
Another version: Use frozen mixed veggies, add a dained can of light kidney beans and chopped red onion...use the same cooked dessing. Keeps great.
This recipe was prepared for our covered dish dinner, last night. It is absolutely delicious, so I thought I would share it.
1 can English peas
1 can shoepeg corn, drained
1 cup diced celery
1 med. onion, chopped fine, or a red onion, sliced thin
1 can French style green beans, drained
1 sm green pepper, chopped
1 sm red pepper, chopped
1 tsp onion salt
1 tsp celery seed
Marinade - bring to boil, cool and pour over veggies.
1/4 cup oil
1 Tbsp water
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup cider vinegar
I was told, the longer you marinate, the better it tastes.

RE: How do you protect your carpet from slide-out rollers?
I purchased two packages of disposable cutting boards at the dollar store..2 per package for $1 a package. They are thin, flexible and pretty sturdy plastic. I punched holes in the sides at the top of each sheet and fastened two together with twisty ties. Slip these under the rollers before closing the slide and remove after opening..so far they work great with only a $2 investment.
RE: Pot Luck Ideas
Using drained canned sliced potatoes put as much as you need in a crockpot, cover with Ranch Dressing with Bacon and cook on high for a couple of hours. If you don't have that much time, cook in microwave on high for 10-15 minutes. Absolutely delicious!
